MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. -
McCracken County Animal Control officers removed 18 cats from a Paducah home, and they are trying to remove 12 others.
Officers were called to a home on Whitney Drive Thursday and Friday after receiving an anonymous tip. When officers arrived, they noticed a strong smell.
After getting a search warrant, officers went inside and noticed 30 cats were living in the home. Some needed medical attention and were taken to the McCracken County Animal Shelter.
The home has been condemned. According to Animal Control Director Kathy Coleman, none of the cats were found dead, but some are thin and have upper respiratory problems.
Coleman says charges are pending. The homeowner's name hasn't been released because formal charges haven't been filed as of Friday afternoon.
