Adventure by Bike will be a week-long camp offered twice this summer. The camps will be held from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on June 15 through 19 and July 6 through 10.
The city says the camp will teach kids bicycle handling skills and traffic laws under the supervision of staff and riders from BikeWorld. Parks Recreation Superintendent Amie Clark says, "The campers will ride the Greenway Trail, cycle residential streets, explore neighborhoods, and visit local landmarks. They will visit restaurants, parks, businesses, museums, and the Farmers' Market while learning about the local history and unique architecture found in Paducah.”
The camp will be held, rain or shine, at BikeWorld at 809 Joe Clifton Drive in Paducah. Lunch, snacks, and entry fees are included in the $85 registration fee. Registration is through the Parks Department., and multi-child discounts are available.
Martha Emmons of BikeWorld says, “Adventure by Bike Camp allows our two-wheeled explorers the opportunity to discover Paducah. During the week, each camper will learn about his or her strengths and gain confidence. This is more than a bicycle camp; it is a leadership camp.”
A bicycle with 26 inch or larger wheels, a helmet, and a water bottle with holder are required, and equipment must be inspected and approved by BikeWorld staff for safety at least two days before the first day of camp. Campers can rent or buy equipment from BikeWorld.
