Professor Paul Welch demonstrates a Fluorite bead at the Kincaid Mounds in Pope County, Illinois.
Archaeologists from Southern Illinois University are excavating a site at the Kincaid Mounds in Pope County, Illinois.
The privately owned site is seeing the light of day for the first time in at least 600 years.
SIU professor Paul Welch demonstrated a Fluorite bead, used symbolically throughout the mounds in both Massac and Pope counties, to Local 6. This site is believed to be the manufacturing location of the beads.
Local 6 reporter Blake Stevens will have more on the excavation site on Local 6 at Five.
