A report of a stolen SUV in McCracken County lead to the arrest a fugitive.

Deputies responded to a home in the 5000 block of Oaks Road, which is near the Graves and McCracken County line, to investigate the report of a possibly stolen ATV.

The deputies met with a man who had identified himself as being Robert Tynes. As the two deputies continued their investigation, they learned Tynes was wanted on outstanding warrants.

At that times, deputies say Tynes ran form the scene into a swampy, flooded area several hundred yards behind the home.  Deputies say Tynes fought with the officers, bringing them under water.

Tynes was was eventually taken into custody. Both deputies suffered minor injuries.  Tynes was later identified as being 29 year-old Jerry Tynes of Wingo.

Tynes was wanted by the Kentucky Department of Probation and Parole on a parole violation.

Tynes was charged in McCracken County with theft of identity, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading and giving a false name to police.

The investigation into the stolen ATV continues.
