TRIGG COUNTY, KY -

Trigg County Sheriff's Office continues to search for a suspect involved in a high-speed chase that ended in an accident.  Deputies say Steven Dewayne Mayton was last seen on Trigg Furnace Road in the Rockcastle Area of Trigg County driving a car different from the one in the high-speed chase. The sheriff's office says it's a stolen 2009 Chevy Cobalt Black with silver door with KY UK Tag KEVN. They say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The sheriff’s office says Mayton took the Chevy Cobalt Black from a residence on Everlastings Springs Road and almost ran into a Deputy on KY 274 near Handy Korner Market. The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office asks if you see Mayton or the car in the photo to please call 911.

Trigg County Sheriff’s Office says early Saturday morning Deputy Kory McDonald was involved in a chase that ended with Mayton wrecking his own vehicle in a Corn Field on KY 274 and running away.

According to the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, at 2am Saturday morning Deputy McDonald was in his car on US 68 when Mayton stopped and asked the Deputy for directions. Deputy McDonald smelled a strong odor of suspected marijuana and exited his vehicle to investigate. Deputy McDonald asked Mayton to exit the vehicle, when Mayton refused McDonald reached into the car to turn off the ignition.

Mayton then sped off while Deputy McDonald's arm was still partially in the window of the vehicle. Deputy McDonald pursued the vehicle and called for backup.

Mayton fled the scene at speeds in excess 100MPH. The pursuit which started on US 68 ended on KY 274 approximately 2 miles North of Ham Town Market. Mayton wrecked his vehicle and then ran off the road into a corn field.

TCSO requested K9 help from Christian County Sheriff’s Office. CCSO Deputy arrived and began an immediate search of the area. The K9 found a bag of Suspected Cocaine a short distance away from the wrecked vehicle in the cornfield.

Multiple Felony Arrest Warrants have been issued for Mayton.
