The Trigg County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man wanted since Saturday on charges including fleeing police and wanton endangerment.

The sheriff's office says Steven Dewayne Mayton evaded police Saturday and left his car in a a corn field. Mayton had left the scene before deputies found his car. Later Saturday the sheriff's office received tips on where Mayton could be in Trigg County. As deputies responded to the area, Mayton was allegedly seen in a stolen vehicle in that area.

Deputies pursued him, but the sheriffs office says Mayton successfully got away from them.

On Sunday, the sheriff's offices in Trigg and Christian counties again received tips on Mayton's location, and he was found at a Christian County home and arrested around 4:14 p.m.

Mayton is charged with first degree wanton endangerment, driving under the influence, two counts of fleeing or evading police, second and third degree criminal mischief, tampering with evidence and other traffic offenses.

The Trigg County Sheriff's Office said Mayton would have remained at large longer without the help of the citizens who gave law enforcement timely, credible information. The sheriff's office was assisted by other law enforcement agencies including the Cadiz Police Department, the Christian County Sheriff's Office and the Kentucky State Police.
