'Love Paducah Day' hits the road

PADUCAH, Ky -

Paducah Mayor Gayle Kaler reserved July 18th as “Love Paducah Day.” You may have seen members of Paducah’s Relevant Church in their red t-shirts throughout the city. They say they’re making the city a better place, one act of kindness at a time.

Despite the heat, those dedicated volunteers spent their day hard at work. “We want to love on Paducah. We want to help the community out, spread the love of God,” church member John Goebel said. Some of them began the day by repairing a flood-damaged home. The removed the floors and walls. It didn’t stop there for the Relevant Church, though.

Pastor Joel Cauley says there are many way to show the love. “we do that through giving away free lunches, free ice cream, free car washes,” he added. Many stations throughout Noble Park were set up giving out free BBQ sandwiches, chips, and a cold drink. They say they expect nothing in return. “If we can set aside at least one day a year to make a huge impact on a city, I believe we can start to change the world we live in,” the Pastor said.

Cauley hopes that others will join in on the fun next year, as it is an annual event for the City of Paducah. He hopes it will be even bigger and better next year.
