Four charged with stealing items, selling them

Posted: Updated:

A Graves County couple have been arrested and charged with selling items they had stolen from homes and shoplifted from a local Wal-Mart.

The investigation began when the Graves County Sheriff's Office got two reports of burglaries. Both reported that several firearms, hunting equipment, and other items had been stolen.

Detectives interviewed 32-year-old Casey France and 30-year-old Amber France and learned that the couple, along with burglarizing the homes, had been shoplifting from the Mayfield Wal-Mart.

Several hundred dollars worth of merchandise had been stolen, some of which was found in the France's home.

As for the original two burglaries, detectives learned that several of the firearms were sold to a person in the Pryorsburg community. Officers went to that person's home and recovered several firearms, compound bows, and other items of expensive hunting equipment.

Detectives then searched the home of 36-year-old Cary West and 22-year-old Shelby Gill and found more stolen items.

Casey France, Amber France, Cary West, and Shelby Gill were all arrested and taken to the Graves County Jail.

Casey France is charged with burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and theft by unlawful taking under $10,000.

Amber France is charged with complicity to burglary, receiving stolen firearms, receiving stolen property under $10,000, theft by unlawful taking under $10,000, possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cary West is charged with burglary and receiving stolen property under $10,000.

Shelby Gill is charged with complicity to burglary and receiving stolen property under $10,000.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who has purchased items from any of these four people in the last two weeks to please call the Sheriff's Office. Items could include chainsaws, rifles, shotguns, pistols, hunting equipment, and any items that are new and possibly stolen from Wal-Mart.
