Infant found in dumpster in stable condition

UPDATE: A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged for leaving a baby in a dumpster.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says the juvenile admitted to dumping the baby during an interview.

He was taken to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center and is charged with attempted murder, criminal abuse 1st degree, and tampering with physical evidence.


ORIGINAL POST: McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden tells Local 6 an infant was found in a dumpster near a Paducah apartment complex Thursday.

The infant was found in a dumpster on the street behind Fernwood Apartments around 3:03 p.m. Thursday. The baby was taken to a hospital and is reportedly in stable condition. 

Paducah police and McCracken County deputies are looking for a suspect, described as a black male with a flattop hairstyle standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing an estimated 180 pounds, last seen in dark shorts with a stripe on each side and wearing an off-white sleeveless shirt. 

Detectives ask that anyone with information call the sheriff's department at 270-444-4719. Callers may also provide information through Crime Stoppers at 270-443-TELL.
