Congressman takes tour of barge, talks about climate change

PADUCAH, Ky -

It's no secret that our area relies on a river, whether its the Ohio, Mississippi, Tennessee, or Cumberland.

Congressman Ed Whitfield visited Ingram Barge on Tuesday to discuss the future of work along our rivers.

He toured one of the vessels to see where workers sleep and the technology they use.

He also spoke with us about President Obama's proposal to cut down on plant emissions.

Whitfield argues that the president only wants to improve his image.

"He thinks climate change is the biggest issue for mankind. Most people feel like a good job, access to clean water, health care, economic growth are more important than climate change," said Representative Ed Whitfield.

President Obama says the United Nations will soon press other countries to cut down on emissions as well, including Syria, Libya, and South Sudan.
