POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -

A Poplar Bluff man was arrested and charged with stealing from a restaurant.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department says around 3:10 p.m. Thursday officers were called to an armed robbery in progress at Hayden's Barbeque in the 800 block of West Maud Street.

When officers arrived, witnesses told them that the robber was armed with a knife and that he left the store on foot with money taken from the cash register.

Bystanders were able to help lead the officers to the suspect's front door.

55-year-old Ronald Lunsford was arrested at his home without incident. Inside the home, police found a knife and bank deposit bags which contained $752.31 in cash and checks.

Lunsford was taken to the Butler County Jail and charged with robbery and armed criminal action.
