HERRIN, Ill. -

Herrin, Illinois police confirm to Local 6 the body of a missing 4 year-old boy was found in a pond at the Herrin City Park Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the park around 3:30pm.  After an extensive search, the boy's body was found around 5:30pm.  The Williamson County coroner pronounced the child dead around 6pm.  Herrin Police do not suspect foul play.  Police have not released the boy's name.

However, Illinois State Police issued an Amber Alert for Amir Fenner earlier Saturday, but later updated the alert to say Fenner had been found. The original release by ISP says a man possibly abducted Fenner.  Details about that investigation have not been released.

On Facebook, Herrin Police Chief Quinn Laird said: "A very tough day for all involved with the search for a missing child today. It did not turn out how we had all hoped. Thank you to all of the emergency personnel and first responders that were involved. They performed admirably. I pray for God's peace and comfort for the family."

A cause of death has not been released.

Local 6 will update this story when we receive more information.
