A Pinckneyville woman has been charged with embezzling money from the Pinckneyville Rural Fire Protection District.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says 52-year-old Tammy Kellerman is accused of stealing more than $100,000 from the fire protection district.

She has been charged with theft of government funds over $100,000, filing a fraudulent Illinois income tax return, computer fraud, wire fraud, and official misconduct.

Kellerman is a former employee of the fire protection district.

Madigan says Kellerman was able to use her job to embezzle the money for her own personal use.

Bond has been sent at $100,000. Her next court appearance is September 29.
