JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. -

A former Carterville High School band director was sentenced to 150 days in jail for a charge that he took photos of an underage girl without her consent, according to the Jackson County, Illinois, state's attorney's office.

A jury found 42-year-old Michael Todd Norrington, of Carterville, guilty on July 17, 2015. The state's attorney's office said he "knowingly used his cell phone to take photographs under or through the clothing of a 14-year-old girl, without the consent of the girl or her mother, for the purpose of viewing the body or undergarments worn by girl." The office said the incident happened on June 11, 2014, while the girl was shopping in Carbondale.

Norrington is to serve his time in the Jackson County Jail and serve 30 months of probation.
