Kentucky Adult Education Week begins Monday

Posted: Updated:
ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (AP) -

Monday starts Adult Education Week in Kentucky.

Gov. Steve Beshear made the announcement Friday. Many local adult centers will sponsor activities to raise awareness of free academic skill building services available to qualified adults.

The state observance — from Sept. 21 to Sept. 26 — coincides with National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, set by the U.S. Congress.

The governor's office said the state's adult education programs offer free classes to help qualified adults earn GED diplomas and National Career Readiness Certificates, and to prepare for post-secondary training, college and careers.

For more information about these services or to participate in Adult Education Week activities, contact the adult education program in your county. For the contacts list, click here.
