CALDWELL COUNTY, Ky. -

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it has reopened a road in Caldwell County that was closed because of a washout from flash flooding on July 28.

Blackhawk Road in southernmost Caldwell County has reopened to traffic. KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says repairs at the washout site were completed around 6 p.m., Friday and barricades were removed.

There is still more to be done at the site, however.

Todd says a temporary replacement of the washed out culvert allows traffic to be restored while engineering and design work continue on a long-term culvert replacement.

He says KYTC personnel spent about $80,000 to complete the temporary replacement.

The section of the road that has been reopened is in Caldwell County's Blue Springs area.
