Jackson-Union County Habitat For Humanity dedicates home to family

Posted: Updated:

For most of the past year, volunteers and contractors worked alongside the new homeowners, Pedro Infante, Josefina Abarca and their three daughters, Naomi, Corene and Zeinato in building the three-bedroom, two-bath house.  The dedication ceremony will provide the opportunity to thank everyone for their donations of time, effort, building supplies, and funding, and welcome the family to their new home.

Habitat for Humanity partner families provide hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” in the construction of their homes.  They then purchase the homes with zero percent interest loans.

Jackson-Union County Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Founded in Americus, Georgia, USA in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International today operates around the globe and has helped build, renovate and repair more than 800,000 decent, affordable houses sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide.  A decent, affordable home is a critical foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty.  Adequate housing means access to clean water and better health; it can increase educational options and fosters stronger communities.
