Trooper injured while responding to emergency call

Posted: Updated:
MURRAY, KY -

The Kentucky State Police says a local trooper was injured in a wreck with another vehicle when he was responding to an emergency call Tuesday afternoon.

The collision happened around 1:46 p.m. KSP says Trooper Jody Cash was headed north on Kentucky 121 with his emergency equipment activated and was passing other drivers. Debra Fannin of Murray was also headed north on that road when she tried to make a left turn on to Kentucky 783, which KSP says caused her vehicle to strike Cash's as he was passing her.

Both were taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment of injuries described as not life threatening —Cash by EMS and Fannin by a private vehicle.

KSP was assisted at the scene by the Calloway County Fire-Rescue Department, Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Murray Police Department, Murray-Calloway County EMS and Murray Public Works.

KSP Advanced Collision Reconstructionist SGT Joey Adams is continuing the collision investigation.
