Search ends for missing Lyon County man after he is found dead in Mayfield home

UPDATE 11/5/15: Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says Randall Wilson was found dead in a Mayfield home. He says foul play is not suspected.

ORIGINAL STORY: A Lyon County man has been reported missing after leaving for work Wednesday morning.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says 64-year-old Randall Wilson drives a red 2009 Mazda SUV with a McCracken license plate, number 376KCC.

Wilson has no known medical issues. He is described as standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a normal build, gray hair and dark eyes. He is thought to possibly be somewhere between Lyon and Graves County.

Darkness, and no sign of Wilson's car, cell phone, or Wilson resulted in the search for him Wednesday night being called off for the time being. Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says a ping to Wilson's cell phone shows up around the Kentucky 464 and the Kentucky 940 area just outside of Mayfield.

"Basically what we are doing now is checking all side roads. We're checking his route that he usually traveled from Lyon County to Mayfield just in case he possibly ran off the road and wrecked," Redmon said.

Redmon says several agencies, volunteers, and a helicopter searched that area for three hours with no signs. He says it's especially concerning that Wilson's phone is showing up near these fields but no car.

"We don't know if there is some foul play that has taken place, or where he may have been abducted or something and his phone was thrown out, or if he may have thrown out the phone himself," Redmon said.

Redmon says Wilson's cell phone is still ringing, but they haven't been able to find it as of Wednesday night around 8 p.m.

"It's very out of character for him not to have checked in with his family and no one to have any contact with him," Redmon said.

Redmon says they'll most likely continue searching Thursday. He asks that if you have even a bit of information or saw Wilson driving Wednesday morning to contact the sheriff's office at 270-247-4501.
