Plans have been scrapped for a $22 million American Standard facility in Davidson County.
The Tennessean reports (http://tnne.ws/1NWMVQc ) the New Jersey-based kitchen and bath products maker announced the withdrawal of the project on Friday.
The company says the decision was a response to "business consolidation plans" that make the plant "uneconomical."
American Standard will continue to operate out of an existing facility in Nashville, said Steven Delarge, CEO of LIXIL Water Technology Americas, the company's parent. He says American Standard would consider the Nashville area for future expansion plans.
The planned expansion was announced over the summer.
The location in La Vergne would have been American Standard's first new U.S.-based manufacturing facility in more than 25 years.
