Rachael Krause - WPSD Local 6: Your news, weather, and sports authority

Rachael Krause

Rachael Krause joins the WPSD News Team as a multimedia Journalist.

A Minnesota native, Rachael grew up in Farmington, Minnesota near the Twin Cities, where she was in the marching band and dance team but also grew an appreciation for great literature and great writing.

Rachael graduated from the journalism school at the University of Minnesota, located in the heart of the Twin Cities. There, she was able to intern for the Pioneer Press, St. Paul’s newspaper, and write articles for the respected paper. She also interned for WCCO TV, the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis. Rachael credits her appreciation for broadcast news and interest in the field to Jamie Yuccas, her mentor at the University of Minnesota.

After graduating, Rachael worked as a multimedia producer for WHO HD in Des Moines, Iowa, learning the ins and outs of morning news as well as the fast-paced world that is Iowa politics.

From there, Rachael moved on to KCAU TV in Sioux City, Iowa, working as a multimedia journalist. There, she covered such events as the devastating tornadoes that hit northeast Nebraska in 2014, the fight of Iowa families struggling to legalize cannabis oil for kids with epilepsy and similar conditions and much more.

Rachael says her love of the news comes from an appreciation of telling people’s stories, helping to let their voices be heard. Rachael works in the Illinois newsroom for WPSD and she looks forward to telling their stories, as well.
