The University of Missouri faces a challenge to repair the school's image after student protests over the administration's handling of racial issues gained national attention.
University of Missouri spokeswoman Mary Jo Banken said her staff did nothing but answer calls when tensions came to a head and two top administrators resigned earlier this month.
A series of racist incidents and the perceived lack of response by administrators led students to protest.
The University of Missouri System has since hired the son of Missouri's U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt as a lobbyist. About 20,000 letters about the recent events on campus were sent to students accepted to the Columbia campus next fall.
Banken says the university now is focused on communicating what's being done to address concerns, such as developing diversity training.
