Here are six things to know for today.

Jury selection begins today in the trial of Baltimore police officer William Porter. He is the first of six officers to go on trial for the death of Freddie Gray. Officer Porter is charged with involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault, misconduct in office, and reckless endangerment.

Former Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke will be in court this morning. A judge will look at dash-cam video to determine whether or not Van Dyke should be granted bail.

After 20 years in the NBA, Los Angeles star Kobe Bryant is saying goodbye to the game of basketball. The 37-year-old star says he will retire at the end of this season. Bryant is a five-time NBA champion, 17-time all-star, and has two gold medals that he and team USA won in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

The boat ramps at Lake Beshear and at Kentucky Dam Marina on Kentucky Lake will temporarily close starting today. Both projects are expected to be finished in January of next year.

A decision will be made today on when to place a span on the new Eggners Ferry Bridge. Crews are expected to start the process tomorrow and the placement will restrict both river and road traffic.

The New England Patriots' perfect season is over. The Denver Broncos handed the Patriots their first loss with a 30 to 24 overtime victory.
