PADUCAH, KY -
We're remembering one of our own in Paxton Media. Former Paducah Sun publisher Frank Paxton died Monday morning at the age of 88.
Paxton succeeded his father, Edwin, as publisher of the then Paducah Sun-Democrat from 1961 to 1966. After following the family business to Chicago to manage Burke and James, a photographic equipment supply house owned by the company at the time, he went on to serve as president of Paducah Bank from 1972 to 1984.
Jim Paxton with The Paducah Sun tells us Frank Paxton served two terms as president of the Greater Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as a stint as chairman of the Paducah Industrial Development Council —a predecessor to Paducah Economic Development. He also chaired fundraising efforts for the Community Chest, the predecessor to United Way.
Funeral services are being provided through Milner and Orr, and details are not complete at this time.
