MADISONVILLE, KY -

Kentucky State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in Madisonville.

On Sunday, November 28, Hopkins County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Bailey saw a truck traveling 99 miles-per-hour in a 70 mile-per-hour zone on Interstate 69.

Deputy Bailey tried to stop the truck, but the driver accelerated, leading Bailey on a chase.

The driver tried to get off of I-69 at exit 116, but was unable to turn onto the road at the top of the exit ramp due to how fast the truck was going.

The truck went over both lanes and down an earth embankment.

Deputy Bailey's cruiser hit a concrete median at the top of the exit ramp, disabling the car.

Bailey got out of his cruiser and walked to the embankment in order to arrest the driver and his passenger.

As he approached the truck, the driver turned the truck back up the embankment and accelerated towards Deputy Bailey.

Deputy Bailey fired his handgun, hitting the driver.

The driver, a 15-year-old, was taken to Baptist Hospital in Madisonville where he was last listed in stable condition.

A 16-year-old passenger was also in the truck and was released to his parents.

Both teenagers will be facing multiple felony charges from the Hopkins County Sheriff Department.

Deputy Bailey has been placed on paid administrative leave as per department policy on officer involved shootings.
