MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

Two people had to be taken to an area hospital after a two-car wreck at the intersection of U.S. 45 and Lansing Court Wednesday, according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were called to the scene around 5 p.m. Wednesday. They say 28-year-old Nathan Wurts was trying to turn left onto Lansing Court off of U.S. 45 when his 2005 Nissan Murano collided with a 2001 Hyundai Sonata that was headed northbound on U.S. 45.

The driver of the Sonata, 30-year-old Marvin Burns, and a passenger in the car, 55-year-old Hattie Casey, were both taken to a local hospital for treatment of "non-incapacitating injuries," according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies say neither driver had his headlights lit. The sheriff's department says Kentucky law requires that drivers light their headlights 30 minutes before sunrise or 30 minutes before sunset.

Lone Oak Fire Department and Mercy EMS assisted at the scene.  Stinnet’s Towing assisted with clearing the scene of the damaged vehicles.
