Flights at Barkley Regional Airport canceled for Monday afternoon

Posted: Updated:

Barkley Regional Airport in Paducah says Monday afternoon flights into and out of the airport have been canceled because of severe weather in Chicago. Airport spokesman Eddie Grant says United Airlines made the call to cancel the flights.

The Associated Press reported Monday that a winter storm forecast to move across Illinois is expected to bring the Chicago area up to a half-inch of ice and wind gusts reaching 60 mph. The National Weather Service says power outages are possible.
The AP says Chicago's airports canceled more than 400 flights and had delays up to 45 minutes.

Grant said passengers who were expected to arrive or depart Paducah Monday afternoon should call United Airlines at 1-800-864-8331 to re-book flights. He says you should expect longer wait times if you call because of the large number of cancellations across the country. "(United) informed us that Chicago hub-to-hub flights are full for the next two days, and the earliest that seats are available currently is Thursday," Grant told Local 6.
