CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo -

The city of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, says community partners are hosting a Multi-Agency Resource Center where people affected by flooding in Cape Girardeau and north Scott counties can get resources and assistance.

The resource center will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, at the Salvation Army on 701 Good Hope Street in Cape Girardeau. The city says people attending should bring proof their home was in an affected area, like a drivers license showing a current address or a piece of mail.

Among other partners, the following organizations will be on hand with information and services:

SEMO Red Cross —sheltering, clean up kits
Salvation Army —clean up kits and more
Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri —Disaster Case Management for long-term recovery needs, home repair
Univ. of Missouri Extension —educational information on proper clean up and mold remediation
East Missouri Action Agency —sheltering
Local Public Health Departments —tetanus shots and other public health needs
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) —Medicaid, adult protective services
Missouri DHSS Family Support Division —Emergency food stamps
Love INC —Personal hygiene kits
Community Caring Council —Homeless services
211 (24/7 help line, other info on hand)

The city says before cleaning up flood damage, you should take photos of your property and keep any receipts from related expenses. The city says it's important to document damage including photos of outside property under water, outside property after the water went down, interior before and after contents are removed, and damaged contents of your home laid out, as well as a written inventory of all damaged personal items and receipts for purchase of any products, services for cleanup or repair.

If you have questions about the resource center event, call Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri's Cape Girardeau offices at 573-335-0134.
