The Paducah Board of Commissioners approved a municipal order to establish an account with a waste service company for disposal of solid waste during its meeting Tuesday.
The account is with Freedom Waste Service, LLC, for receiving, handling, and disposing of municipal solid waste.
The city previously had an agreement for those services with Republic Services, but that expired Dec. 31.
City spokeswoman Pan Spencer says the account with Freedom Waste Service allows the city to take its municipal solid waste to Freedom’s Mayfield facilities while the city negotiates a long-term contract with the company for solid waste services.
City Manager Jeff Pederson also announced the city will offer a temporary drop-point location for recyclables beginning Monday, Jan. 11 at the open lot adjacent to the Paducah Public Works facility.
