Former credit union manager in Paducah sentenced to 78 months in bank fraud case

The former manager of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 816 Federal Credit Union in Paducah was sentenced Wednesday to 78 months in prison, after pleading guilty to bank fraud in September

The local U.S. attorney's office says the former manager, Debra C. Pyfrom, was sentenced in U.S. District Court by Senior Judge Thomas B. Russell to the prison term and to and pay $600,520.16 of restitution.

The attorney's office says it's not known how long Pyfrom executing the fraud scheme, but that she did it until she was fired by IBEW and arrested in July of 2014.  She was accused of manipulating credit union accounts, posting false loan payments, misappropriating cash, and taking out loans in members’ names without their knowledge. The office says she admitted to embezzling and stealing money from IBEW and its members for an approximate total loss greater than $600,000.

Pyfrom admitted to using the money for her personal benefit, the attorney's office says, and for the benefit of her daughter, her boyfriend, friends, and family.
