Murray State students who didn't make it home for the weekend build snowmen in front of the MSU president's home.
MURRAY, KY -
Businesses across Calloway County shut down for the day on Friday. Even Murray State University closed campus.
The Calloway County Office of Emergency Management says the county got 5 inches of snow overnight Thursday, and it snowed all day Friday.
Even in the snow, Murray State students managed to have some fun.
Classes at Murray State were canceled Thursday night, and the basketball game was moved to an earlier time. All this so students could get home in time to beat the snow.
The MSU president invited students who couldn't make it home to a snowman building contest on his front lawn.
Student Paula Jaco says she actually likes being stuck on campus on snow days.
"Everyone's just being excited. Everyone is out on campus sledding, making snowmen, hanging out in their rooms, watching movies, so there's a lot of hanging out between people. You make a lot of good friends on snow days," Jaco said.
Many roads are still covered in snow.
The Calloway County Office of Emergency Management advises people not to get out on the roads until Saturday.
The Murray State men's basketball game is still scheduled for Saturday night.
