FRANKFORT, Ky -

Volunteers are needed for Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Boards to review the cases of kids placed in foster care to make sure they're placed in safe, permanent homes, according to the Administrative Office of the Courts.

The AOC, which performs operations for Kentucky's courts system and oversees the citizen foster care review boards, says volunteers are needed in Barren, Bell, Bourbon, Bracken, Butler, Clark, Edmonson, Fayette, Grayson, Jefferson, Jessamine, Logan, Madison, Mason, Muhlenberg, Oldham, Owen, Pendleton, Taylor, Todd, Trimble and Warren counties.

Volunteers don't need to live in those counties to participate, the AOC says. Volunteers have to finish a 6 hour initial training session. The AOC says potential volunteers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible so they may be scheduled for training in their area. All volunteers have to consent to a criminal record and central registry check. After that, a recommendation is made to the chief judge of the district court or family court for appointment.
