Training a dog to protect your home

Posted: Updated:

Earlier this month, we introduced you to local dog trainer Donna Collier, who showed us that any size or type of dog can be more than a companion, your dog could help you keep your family safe.  However, what if your dog is more of a cuddler?

Collier wants to help you and your dog develop an even stronger bond and help keep your family safe.

Collier has been training dogs for years.

"Basic commands are heel, sit, stay, down, and what we call a recall," said Collier.

Helping man's best friend learn how to protect you.

"We start them at 16 weeks of age, from start to finish, if you are going to do protection work, then you're looking a year and a half two years to make sure that dog is stable," said Collier.

Collier said it is all about the training, the dog doesn't have to be mean.

"Best scenario is that you have a dog that looks mean, but doesn't bite, the barking, the stance," said Collier.

Protection right by your side and training that will pay off to keep you and your family safe.

Collier and her husband Jeff Beach have a combined 35 years of experience.
