MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

Two people were arrested on drug and gun charges in Lone Oak on Monday.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says detectives were conducting surveillance on a home at 3517 Clinton Road after getting reports of alleged drug activity at the home.

Around 8:45 p.m., detectives saw a vehicle leave the home.

A short time later, that same vehicle was found abandoned at the intersection of Clinton and Contest Road. The vehicle had hit an embankment and a tree.

The driver had left the scene, so deputies searched the vehicle and found a 9mm handgun with an obscured serial number and other items left behind.

The department's K-9 was called in to try and track the driver of the vehicle. The K-9 led deputies back to the house at 3517 Clinton Road.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and inside found approximately 24 grams of methamphetamine, three sets of digital scales, a marijuana plant, an AR-15 rifle, two shotguns (one sawed-off shotgun), a handgun, and what was believed to be a live hand grenade.

Detectives arrested 39-year-old Tammy Abanatha and 26-year-old James Dowell.

Abanatha was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dowell was charged with firearm enhanced trafficking in methamphetamine, three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, and drug paraphernalia.
