Mounds teen pleads guilty in police shooting

Pulaski County, Illinois, State's Attorney James Flummer says a Mounds, Illinois, teen has pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in connection to the shooting of a Mounds officer. 

In an announcement Wednesday, Flummer says 17-year-old Nigel Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated battery of a peace officer with a firearm in connection with the July 8 shooting of officer Lyle Womack of the Mounds Police Department. The charge is a class X felony. 

Williams was sentenced to serve 15 years in Illinois prison followed by the statutory period of three years of parole.
