In two days voters in two our local states will be heading to the polls to pick their nominee for president. This is why Senator Ted Cruz was at Southeast Missouri State University Saturday evening. Cruz says he’s the only republican candidate that can beat Donald Trump and asked for Missouri’s help.
He talked about jobs and the economy. His supporters often gave him a standing ovation. He really wanted to make a point that job loss in Illinois and Missouri are from a failed administration. That’s something he hopes voters will elect him to change.
It was a warm welcome for Senator Ted Cruz. His message focused on the same several key ideas. “We're going to appeal every word of Obama care. We're going to pass a simple flat tax and abolish the IRS. We're going to lift the regulations on small businesses,” Cruz said. Later in a news conference he said, “we're going to repeal Obamacare, abolish the IRS, and lift regulations. Small businesses are going to explode.”
Senator Cruz is counting on his audience Saturday night and other Missourians to vote against Donald Trump. Cruz says the stakes are too high. “Missouri is a battleground state. Donald Trump and I are neck and neck. We are competing hard,” Cruz added.
Not everyone supported his visit. Brooke Clubbs picketed against the Senator. “He's anti science. He's anti equality. We support equality. We support science. We support social justice,” Clubbs said.
