Businesses cleanup overnight flooding in time to open for customers

MARTIN, Tenn. -

Several businesses in Martin, Tennessee flooded near the intersection of Lovelace Avenue and University Street overnight Saturday including Jack's Sports Bar and Grill.

Waitress Manager Kimberly Yazvac says they worked all Sunday morning to be able to open in the afternoon.

"Just doing our best to sweep and mop from the flood last night. You know just doing everything we can do to open today,” Yazvac said.

Another manager, Debbie Roney says the water reached past their ankles and eventually went into the bar causing them to close for the night. She is among the many employees who stayed late Saturday to get flood waters out.

"Just started sweeping everything out and mopping up, re-mopping, and we're still mopping," Roney said.

Yazvac says they dealt with a roof collapse last year because of snow, now she's drying out her floors.

“It's unfortunate but everyone works hard and works together to get their businesses back up and running for customers,” Yazvac said.

Yazvack says this is the worst flooding they've had before. The last time the bar flooded was in spring of 2014.
