Help Wanted: Five tricks to speed up your job search

Posted: Updated:

You've got a lot on your plate and not a lot of time to spend searching for a new job. You can streamline that search so the process is faster and more efficient.

Here are the five tricks you need to know to do that according to U.S. News & World Report:

1.) Name your resume. So many people save and send theirs as "resume.doc." Give it a new name, specific to you, that a potential employer can find easily.

2.) Save search result links on a spreadsheet so you can find them more easily later.

3.) Use LinkedIn's groups to communicate directly with people in your target companies.

4.) Make yourself easy to find on LinkedIn. Put your name and email address in the very first line of your summary section on your profile.

5.) Be realistic when applying for jobs.
