Belgium: still unsure whether suspect Abrini is 'man in hat'
BRUSSELS (AP) -
Brussels remains under the second-highest terror alert, meaning an attack is considered likely, despite multiple arrests recently including five men detained Friday and accused of having links to the Brussels bombings.
The latest arrests include the last known fugitive in last year's Paris attacks and raise new questions about the extent of the Islamic State cell believed to have carried out the intertwined attacks that left 162 people dead in two countries.
One suspect, Mohamed Abrini, could be the mysterious "man in the hat" who escaped the double bombing at the airport, but federal prosecutors said they still needed further verifications. Abrini's suspected role in the Paris attacks has never been made clear. He was seen in the attack convoy en route to Paris in the days ahead of the bloodshed, but disappeared afterward.
