Paducah leaders agree to apply for grant in partnership with Cape Girardeau

PADUCAH, KY -

In a partnership to equip police and firefighters with the latest technology, Paducah leaders agreed Tuesday night to apply with Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for a 2016 Port Security Grant.

The Paducah Police Department is asking for $11,008.50. The money would pay for  three security cameras to monitor the floodwall. That  would require a $3,669.50 match from the city

The Paducah Fire Department is asking for  $531,675.60.  It wants to buy radiation or nuclear detection equipment and a fire rescue boat. The city says the fire department will budget a cash match of $88,705.40 and an in-kind match of $57,644.80 The detection equipment will be distributed between Paducah and Cape Girardeau.

Cape agreed to contribute either an in-kind or cash match totaling an estimated $32,000.
