Walk4Water - You can make a difference

Posted: Updated:

You probably don't give it a second thought. You know we have fresh, clean and safe drinking water available all the time.  However, that is not the case in under-developed countries. That is why charities like Healing Hands International are so important.

The group raises money to build fresh water wells in developing countries.

Now, they are holding a local fundraiser to travel to Haiti, but they need your help.

All you have to do is sign up for their Walk4Water fundraiser and you will have an impact on families around the world who might not otherwise ever know what it is like to have safe water.

This is the 3rd year to host the walk in Paducah. In the last two years, they have raised more than $50,000 to put clean water wells in developing countries. The last two years they have placed wells in south eastern India. Healing Hands International has put in more than 600 wells in the last several years. This year they are focusing on Haiti. Since four miles is the average distance people, usually children, in developing countries have to walk daily - they are walking that distance. That is why it is called Walk4Water.

The walk is Saturday, April 16th. You can sign in at Wilson Stage at the foot of Broadway.

The walk is free. The 5K/fun run costs $20 if you register online and $25 at the event. If you donate, you get a shirt.
