GRAVES COUNTY, KY -

Two people were taken to local hospitals after a wreck involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck in Graves County Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies responded to the report of a two-vehicle wreck around 12:21 p.m. on Wednesday at mile marker 21 on the Purchase Parkway, southbound.

Carl Kelly of Cedar Drove, Tennessee, was driving a semi south along the Purchase Parkway. As Kelly took exit 21 to continue south on the Parkway and began to merge with southbound traffic, deputies say he noticed a stalled vehicle in the right hand lane of the parkway. Kelly tried to merge into the left lane to avoid hitting the stalled vehicle.

At the same time, a pickup truck driven by Bobby G. Heath of Mayfield was headed the same direction in the left hand lane. Deputies say Kelly sideswiped Heath's pickup as he tried merge into the left lane to avoid hitting the stalled vehicle.

Heath and his passenger, Roberta J. Walker, also of Mayfield, were both taken to local hospitals with injuries deputies describe as non-life threatening. Kelly declined medical treatment at the scene.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Mayfield/Graves County EMS and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
