Tennessee's new academic achievement test hits another snag

Posted: Updated:

Tennessee education officials are preparing for the possibility that some students won't be able to take the state's new achievement tests this year following the latest problem with the assessment.
On Friday, Department of Education officials announced that some schools had not yet received materials for the TNReady test. The test was initially supposed to be completed online, but the system crashed in February, preventing some students from taking the test. After the computer glitches, education officials said students would take the test on paper.
Officials say the problem now is that some schools haven't received testing materials.
The state awarded North Carolina-based Measurement Inc. a contract worth more than $107 million for the TNReady test. A spokesman for the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
