Calloway County Sheriff's Office investigating deadly fire

Posted: Updated:
Calloway County, KY -

One person was found dead Tuesday morning after a home caught fire in Calloway County.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office says it has been investigating since the call came in early in the morning at a home at 593 Beane Road.

Deputies say the house was completely engulfed when first responders got there around 1 a.m. They say they combed through the house as part of their preliminary investigation but, because the fire destroyed almost everything, that makes their job more difficult.

Deputies say fire marshals have also started looking through the house, but no one has many answers. What we do know is one person was found dead and no one was injured. We don't know the gender of the person who died or if they lived at the home.

I asked a spokesperson for the Calloway County Sheriff's Office if there was a criminal investigation and if there was anyone else involved with the fire. Deputy Richard Palmer told me they're trying to answer those questions, but they want to get the answers right the first time. "There's some partially answered questions, but ensuring those answers are factual is different than having an answer. So there's just a lot of leads we're tracking down this afternoon," he said.

Palmer told me they hope answers will come from the autopsy, but there's no word as to how long that will take.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office says they're still looking for information. If you know anything, you can contact police at 270-753-3151.
