Tanker truck gets stuck under railroad overpass

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

UPDATE: McCracken County dispatch says Woodville Road in McCracken County is back open.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says Woodville Road in McCracken County had to close between Old Cairo Road  at mile point 0.0 and Souders Lane at mile point 0.562.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says a tanker truck hit the railroad overpass on Old Cairo Road at mile point 0.244. The cab of the truck made it under the overpass, but the tanker trailer did not —causing the tractor and trailer to break at the connecting point.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says the trailer became lodged under the bridge and had to be removed. The driver of the truck was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of injuries deputies describe as minor.

Todd says there is no hazmat and a spill is not reported.

Local 6 Chief Photographer Mike Spissinger is at the scene, and he says the truck is free from the railroad bridge.

However, Todd reports that this section of road is still closed, and advises drivers to look for an alternative route.

Patrick Waldron with Canadian National says the bridge doesn't need any repairs that will affect train traffic. He says Canadian National crews are at the site to determine whether minor repairs are needed.
