A spokeswoman with AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation says it will end distribution activities in it's Paducah facilities by spring of 2017.
About 90 employees will be affected.
AmericourceBergen spokeswoman Lauren Moyer says the decision is "part of an ongoing effort to evaluate and align our capabilities to our customer’s needs." She says the decision wasn't made lightly.
"We are encouraging the approximately 90 impacted associates to apply for positions of interest across the company," Moyer says.
Paducah Economic Development President Scott Darnell sent us this statement on the closure:
“Any pending closure is not good news. We appreciate the many great years that AmerisourceBergen was located in Paducah. We are confident the dedicated/skilled employees will be attractive to many companies that continue to hire and grow their facilities in our community. The great cooperation of the public/private sector in Paducah works daily to expand employment opportunities and we have a tremendous network of support for any citizen in our community that will be seeking employment opportunities.”
