JEFFERSON Co, IL -

One person died at a rest stop in Jefferson County, Illinois early Sunday morning.

Illinois State Police says the driver of a Coachman Motor Home entered the rest stop at mile marker 85 on I-64 at a high rate of speed.

The motor home hit a parked car.  ISP says the high speed caused both vehicles to catch fire.  The driver of the motor died.  His passenger was air-lifted to a St. Louis hospital for major injuries. Their names have not been released.

The driver and passenger in the parked car were taken to a Mt. Vernon hospital for minor injuries.

The rest stop was shut down for about 10 hours.  It has since re-opened.  ISP is investigating the cause of the crash.
