The charges against Joseph Cunningham in McCracken County, KY, will go to the grand jury.
Cunningham appeared in court Thursday on charges of arson, cruelty to animals, and burglary.
There is also more information about what happened at a house fire on Schneidman Road in March.
Detectives testified that Cunningham started the fire by placing a cotton ball in an electrical outlet and then turning the circuit breaker on and off.
Cunningham told Mt. Vernon officers that he was angry after being evicted from the home.
One cat died in the fire.
Cunningham also faces murder charges in Marshall County in the death of Gary Lambert.
Cunningham told officers he shot Lambert during a gun sale because he thought Lambert was going to rob him.
