Body found in Paducah identified

PADUCAH, KY -

The body of a man found in a wooded area in Paducah Wednesday has been identified, according to police.

The man's body was found in a "severe state of decomposition" Wednesday evening. An autopsy was performed early Friday morning in Louisville.

Paducah police say an identification card found in the man’s clothing led detectives to believe he was 44-year-old Clint Sampson of Paducah. A family member told investigators Sampson had not been seen since the end of May, and investigators learned Sampson often went to the wooded area where his body was found.

In Friday's autopsy, police say, the medical examiner didn't find any evidence of trauma to the body, and foul play is not suspected.
