Kickoff meeting scheduled for Big Brown Truck Pull
By Staff report
PADUCAH, KY -
In preparation for this year's Big Brown Truck Pull, Special Olympics Kentucky will hold a kickoff meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Texas Roadhouse in Paducah.
Kentucky Special Olympics says captains of returning teams and anyone interested in learning more about the annual fundraiser can attend the meeting. The event benefits Special Olympics athletes in McCracken County and throughout the state.
More than 30 teams are expected to participate in the Aug. 6 event in downtown Paducah. The teams compete in three divisions to see who can pull a loaded UPS 18-wheeler 12 feet the fastest. Kentucky Special Olympics says younger teams can pull a UPS panel delivery truck.
Teams have up to 15 pullers, and can be from companies, community organizations, or just friends and family who want to compete together. To compete, a team has to raise a minimum of $750 for adults, and a minimum of $300 for youth division teams. Kentucky Special Olympics says prizes for fastest time will be awarded in the men's, women's, and co-ed divisions. Prizes will also go to the team and to the individual who raises the most money.
